The newly established German Center for Child and Adolescent Health has made
Community Health Research one core focus area. It aims to understand and address
the health-related needs and resources of children and adolescents within
relevant developmental, regional, social and societal contexts. In the
following, we will discuss the role of Community Health Research in addressing
child and adolescent health. Additionally, we would like to shed light on how it
adds to basic and applied research focused on specific conditions, describe the
establishment and operational framework of this research area within the German
Center for Child and Adolescent Health, and present a roadmap for the way
ahead.
